Pictures are extremely important to your profile, I might even go so far as to say they are the most important thing in your profile; but not for the reason you may think. It’s not because looks are an all important factor. How important looks are varies from female to female, but this is not why.
Women are known to read between the lines and that’s what they will do when it comes to your pictures. Many things will be assumed about you based on your pictures (that have nothing to do with if you’re good looking or not) and if you don’t know what means what in “womanese”, you’ll crash and burn quick.
Profile words are somewhat easy to manipulate if you know what you’re doing and what to say to make yourself appear much better than you are. Pictures, assuming you’re using up to date and real ones, are not.
By the way that means the ancient picture of you from college or the cut and paste job from a male model website need to be changed:)
Alright, now that we have that out of the way, let’s get into the worst type of pictures to have on your profile:
Photos that feature other women – This will be assumed to be a friends with benefits or an ex girlfriend. It doesn’t matter because both of those things are grounds for women getting away from your profile, and you getting less dates.
Self taken photos/the bathroom mirror shot – This has become something of a classic online and women seem to hate it with a passion. I think it may be the implication that you have no friends or don’t appear to be going to any social gatherings where you would be likely to take pictures.
Pictures with your shirt off. A close cousin to the self pic and bathroom mirror pic, this one comes across like you’re insecure, clueless, creepy, or perverted.
The long distance shot – these blurry types of photos may reveal an insecurity about your looks or show that you have something to hide (possibly a “Hangover” style face tattoo from a drunken night). This lack of confidence will be a turn off and will get your emails instantly deleted.
Hat Photos – If you have hats on in all your online dating profile photos it will tend to appear that you are bald or balding, and you’re hiding that fact. Again, the lack of confidence shown will be much worse than however you actually look.
***Just to be clear, I’m not saying all the above things are absolutely true. They could be true or false. The important thing is the woman’s perception, that’s what will lead you on the road to a date, or stamp you dead on arrival.***
I promise you that if you have any of these types of pictures on your online dating profile, taking them off now will allow you to start getting more responses, and eventually many more dates.
